Shinola takes its name from the old Shinola shoe polish company. Founded in 2011 in Detroit, the company operates an in-house watch and leather factory on the fifth floor of the historic Argonaut Building, where a team of artisans hand assembles luxury timepieces and crafts premium leather straps. They create opportunities for their employees, many of whom came from the automotive industry, through skilled training programs.
Shinola journals are American-made and feature a smyth-sewn binding, which provides a high level of durability and enables the pages to lie perfectly flat. Manufactured in the United States from all US-sourced components, their journals feature acid-free paper from sustainably managed American forests.
